Effectiveness and Challenges: The Current Situation of Electronic Health Records (EHRs) to Improve Health Care Outcomes

Background. In the Philippines, although software for Electronic Health Records (EHRs) is still new, knowledge about EHRs benefits increasing.Objective: This study investigated effectiveness of electronic health records to care outcomes at selected facilities in National Capital Region (NCR) and CALABARZON regions Philippines. The current government private were determined terms quality patient care, engagement, support team-based workload, data liquidity; challenges facing providers implementation identified.Methods. research utilized descriptive, cross-sectional design. Three hundred seven (N=307) from medical, nursing, paramedical departments participants. A three-part adapted questionnaire was main tool used collection. Mean, standard deviation, Mann-Whitney & Kruskal-Wallis’s tests analysis.Results. results revealed that are moderately effective improving outcomes. primarily achieved through better access retrieval information. poses major Philippines’ which central socio-economic organizational factors.Conclusions. more use EHR systems, greater experienced by facilities.
